Information Architect Links
Here are some links for starting the journey. This is only a sampling and as I continue to build this blog, i will add and remove links as required.
Wikipedia entry – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_architecture – The ever growing online encyclopedia has a good overview on IA.
Information Architect institute – http://iainstitute.org/ – Still a bit too focused on IA in the “web designer” sense but still a great site and bound to be the one stop shop for all IA practitioners.
Articles on Information Architecture – http://www.boxesandarrows.com/- A good site for the design aspects of Information Architecture.
Interaction Design – http://www.interaction-design.org/ – A great concept just needs more entries. It is much like a Wikipedia that focuses solely on Interaction design concepts. However, the quality control process is much more rigorous. Who knows, maybe I will have the opportunity to post a couple of subjects.
Before and After Magazine – http://www.bamagazine.com – In my mind this is a must read for understanding visual design. Even if you just read the articles (including archives) on this site, you will be light years ahead of most “self-taught” web designers. Don’t get me wrong visual design is an art and skill that takes innate talent, education, and lots of practice. But at the very least, this site/magazine will give you the foundations from where to begin further exploration of the craft.
Universal Design – http://www.design.ncsu.edu/cud/ – Although this site focuses on Universal Design from a physically disability sense, virtually all the design principles can apply to digital design.
